Welcome to Home of the Brave. I'm Scott Carrier. My friend Trent Harris has a problem caused by the coronavirus. It's not a big problem compared to a lot of other

things that have come up recently, like the possible collapse of the economy and thousands

of people dying. Trent's problem is more like a temporary

embarrassment. Basically, his reputation is on the line. Trent's been making movies all of his life. He's known and loved pretty much

around the world for writing and directing strangely uplifting stories about heroic misfits, where you don't really understand what's happening or why

until the third act when something happens like a lightning bulb and suddenly everything comes together and makes perfect sense.

And you're like, wow, that was amazing.

For the past year, Trent's been making a new movie called Echo People.

He's already finished the first two acts

and posted them on YouTube.

It's a mystery, set up Mystery Mountain

in southern Utah, the same place he shot Rubin and Ed nearly 30 years ago.

In that film, Rubin and Ed are wandering around the desert looking for a place to bury Rubin's cat.

That's the plot, and it seems completely ridiculous until the third act,

when there's a payoff so profound, it nearly knocks your socks off.

In this film, Echo People, there are also two people wandering in the desert,

but it's not clear why they are there or what they're

looking for. The first two acts that are up on YouTube leave you wondering why you are even watching

the movie. This was intentional on Trent's

part. His plan was to post the third act as quickly as possible, the act where

everything comes together and makes perfect sense.

But then the coronavirus happened, and now he can't shoot the final scenes.
