Hey everyone, it's Mary Demuth, and this is Pray Every Day, where I pray you through the Bible verse by verse.

So happy to have you here on this ninth day of October.

Hope it is a good day and you are full of joy.

And if not, I pray that the Lord would be the lifter of your head.

I do want to pray for someone grieving right now.

Lord Jesus, I pray for my friend who has the mantle of grief on them and they feel alone in that grief. And I pray

that I know that you promise you will carry and bear our grief. So I pray for that, but I also pray

you would grieve alongside and that you would send someone who would be someone that would be in the

mess with them and carry the burden with them. Lord, grief is hard. It's heavy. It's dark. And I pray

that even today there would be just a little, a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel

and that you would break through with just a little bit of joy.

Lord, we can't really have the capacity to understand joy without grief. So I pray that you would

marry the two today in Jesus' name. Amen. All right. Today I'm reading from Ecclesiastes

chapter 5 in the World English Bible Bible and this is what it says.

Guard your steps when you go to God's house for to draw near to listen is better than to give

the sacrifice of fools for they don't know what they do but for they don't know that they do evil.

Don't be rash with your mouth and don't let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God,

for God is in heaven and you on earth. Therefore let your words be few.

For as a dream comes with a multitude of cares, so a fool's speech with a multitude of words.

When you vow a vow to God, don't defer to pay it, for he has no pleasure in fools.

Pay that which you vow.

It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.
