Hey everyone, this is Mary DeMuth and this is Pray Every Day, where I have the joy and privilege

of praying you through the Bible verse by verse. We have finished up Colossians yesterday, and now we are

jumping backward to Ecclesiastes, which I said yesterday is one of my favorite, one of my favorite

books in the Bible, and it seems kind of weird that that would be it.

But when I first became a Christian, I read this, interestingly, and it really ministered to me.

I think I could relate in having the story that I had, that I had kind of had that same thing,

where I had come to the end of myself and nothing satisfied.

And every time I heard about Jesus in my young life meetings, I just knew this is it.

This is what I've been longing for.

My whole life and all those breadcrumbs that Jesus had dropped my way were now making sense and leading somewhere. So anyway, I know

it's a weird book, but I really enjoy it, and I hope you do too. So today I'm reading from Ecclesiastes

Chapter 1 in the World English Bible, and this is what it says.

The Word of the preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

Vanity of vanity says the preacher, vanity of vanities, all is vanity.

What does man gain from all his labor in which he labors under the sun?

One generation goes and another generation comes, but the earth remains forever.

The sun also rises and the sun goes down and hurries to its place where it rises.

The wind goes toward the south and turns around to the north.

It turns around continually as it goes, and the wind returns again to its courses. All the rivers run into the sea,

yet the sea is not full. To the place where the rivers flow, there they flow again. All things are

full of weariness beyond uttering. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.

That which has been is that which shall be,
