Summary

Today, I’m going to tell you why two Brazil nuts each day may help with hypothyroid conditions. Most hypothyroid conditions are really Hashimoto’s disease, which is an autoimmune condition.

14 million people are diagnosed with Hashimoto’s each year in the US alone. Hashimoto’s puts you at risk for developing other types of autoimmune disease.

Selenium is a trace mineral needed in very small amounts. It’s involved in over 25 different genes related to antioxidants. It also has potent anti-inflammatory effects.

Selenium-rich foods include seafood, shellfish, organ meats, and Brazil nuts. Brazil nuts have the highest concentrations of selenium. Two Brazil nuts each day give you 200 mcg of selenium. Several randomized controlled trials found that selenium reduces the antibodies that attack the thyroid.

When thyroid-stimulating hormone increases, it does not connect with the thyroid, leading to a hypothyroid condition. Selenium can also help with this condition.

If you have Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism, lots of hydrogen peroxide is generated. Selenium helps to neutralize hydrogen peroxide. Selenium helps control the T helper cells, which orchestrate your immune response. It also feeds the T-reg cells, which help prevent autoimmune diseases.

Your brain, immune system, and reproductive system depend heavily on selenium, so sometimes, there’s not much left for the thyroid to function correctly. This may lead to Hashimoto’s symptoms, which include feeling tired, cold, weight gain, hair loss, and brittle hair.

Try eating two to four Brazil nuts daily to support your thyroid gland's health. Don’t do more than that because it’s possible to overdo it with selenium. In addition to selenium, ensure you’re getting enough sunlight or consume high doses of vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 can help regulate an overactive immune system.

Would you be willing to consume two of these each day to help prepare your thyroid?

And I'm talking about Brazil nuts for a very specific reason.

Most hypo, low thyroid condition problems is Hashimoto's. This is an

0:18.3

autoimmune problem. It's not usually related to lacking iodine, but Hashimoto's is the most common type of autoimmune

0:26.1

disease of all the autoimmune diseases.

0:28.1

14 million people a year get it, just in the US alone. And when you you have Hashimoto's you're more at risk of developing other types of autoimmune diseases as well.

0:38.0

Hashimoto's thyroiditis, which is inflammation of the thyroid, doesn't always cause hypothyroidism, but usually it does.

0:46.6

And so what's fascinating about these Brazil nuts, is there selenium content and what selenium can do

0:52.3

for Hashimoto's? I mean mean it's mind-blowing.

0:55.1

First of all selenium is a trace mineral needed in very tiny amounts.

1:00.4

Selenium is involved in over 25 different genes involving antioxidants, giving anti-inflammatory effects.

Salinium also is in shellfish and seafood and organ meat, but it's the highest in Brazil nuts.

1:15.6

And so if you had two of these nuts, you would get close to like 200 micrograms of selenium every single day. In 17 randomized control trials, it has been shown that

1:27.1

selenium reduces the antibodies that are attacking your thyroid, and selenium can slow down that attack.

1:35.0

Even the way they diagnose thyroid conditions like hypotherroidism, they look at the

1:39.9

hormone that's released from the pituitary that goes down to the thyroid.

1:43.7

It's called the thyroid stimulating hormone.

1:46.3

And when that hormone goes up, that means it's not connecting with the thyroid,

1:50.8

and chances are you have a hypothyroid condition. Well it just so happens

1:56.0

that selenium also helps that condition too. With in Hashimoto's situation you have a lot of hydrogen peroxide being generated. So by taking

2:06.2

selenium you can help neutralize the effect of hydrogen peroxide and even too

2:12.1

much hydrogen peroxide itself can trigger an autoimmune disease.
