Summary

"I would also like to thank you all so far, this channel has been going well and I appreciate it your support. My last video on created grace was especially very well received. Sure I got brigaded, maybe unjustly so, but these things happen on Youtube. I am happy that CT promoted me (by complaining about me on Twitter and Youtube) which gained me a lot of followers and subscribers (a lot of them are Roman Catholic). Also grateful that Jay Dyer and many other Orthodox Christians have been supportive so far."

Greetings everyone, David the Realman here.

So I'm sure us Orthodox are very familiar with this age-old Roman Catholic argument.

0:09.0

And a Roman Catholic will ask, why are you Eastern Orthodox?

0:13.0

And we will say, well, we're Eastern Orthodox because of this, this and that.

0:16.0

And a Roman Catholic will say, well, that sounds really beautiful, but why are you not Eastern Catholic?

And this is the video where I will illustrate that.

0:36.6

So before we even go ahead, I will talk to you about, well, what we're going to be talking about in this video.

0:42.3

We're going to be covering the meaning of Eucharist. This is very important, actually.

0:47.3

Then we're going to look at Eastern Rite theology as opposed to Latin Rite theology.

0:53.3

And then we're going to look at Eastern

Right Saints then and now, so the past and the present of Eastern Rite Saints. So what does it

1:03.0

even mean to commune? It means that you believe the body and blood of Christ is present in that church.

1:09.0

You also believe that that church really does have the

1:12.9

sacraments. Most importantly, communing in a church is an implicit affirmation that that church

1:19.4

preaches true doctrine. So as an example, you as a Roman Catholic will not commune in a Protestant church.

1:25.6

Why? Well, because Protestantism is just wrong. It preaches false doctrines.

1:30.3

Right? So when you partake in the Eucharist of a church, you're basically saying, this church has a great doctrine.

1:35.3

This church preaches truth. Keeping that in mind, as we all know that the Eastern Catholics and Rome are in commune with one another, so this

1:45.6

should mean that they have a unified theology, right?

1:50.2

That is not the case.
