0:49.2	Turn with me to Luke 24, beginning at verse 13. There you'll find two of Jesus' disciples. As a matter of fact,
1:01.1	from knowledge of the name of Cleopas, we know that this is actually Jesus' aunt and her husband,
1:09.6	Clopas. And they were going home to Emmaus in utter hopelessness.
1:16.6	They had witnessed with their own eyes the crucifixion of Jesus.
1:21.9	They saw their hope was dashed on that cross, and that is why they said, we had hoped, it's in the past.
1:31.5	They're talking about this. It's finished. We had hoped that he's the Messiah. We had hoped that
1:36.4	he's the Redeemer. We had hoped that he's a deliverer. They saw their dream was dashed on that cross.
1:43.0	They saw their future ended on that cross. So they waited
1:48.1	around for three days, and then they went home to Emmaus depressed. I'm going to tell you why they
1:54.9	waited for three days. They were going home, overwhelmed with a sense of hopelessness.
2:02.2	It's over.
2:03.9	These two have loved Jesus.
2:06.0	These two have walked with Jesus.
2:08.0	These two followed Jesus.
2:10.8	These two have placed all of their hope on Him as their deliverer, Messiah, and Redeemer.
2:17.4	But the crucifixion ended all that.
2:21.6	And in the fog of depression, in the fog of depression, they could not remember the promise
