Culturally, there's a trend toward liturgical things in general because what's happening

are people, you know, people's, their parents' marriages are falling apart and they want

something somewhere that's longer than just their parents' divorce.

And so there's a desire for something bigger.

And so there is a trend. And the thing that

makes me concerned as a pastor is that people are being distracted by the event that's being

done in a liturgy, the kind of transcendent mystery as opposed to like the word.

And anything that distracts from the word is to me.

And so I do think some, in some places, there is this kind of trend toward liturgy as if

they're like we do serious worship.

It's like a varsity versus JV type of thing,

a little snobby liturgy thing.

So when it starts pointing back toward us in any way,

as going back to the Hearts and Idol factory thing,

we find a way to turn celebration of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection

into us somehow with our liturgy sometimes.
