On 20 November 2006, two women were walking along a dirt access road in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, just outside of Atlantic City. The road - which ran parallel to the Black Horse Pike - stretched behind a handful of dingy motels known as havens for pimps, sex workers, dealers, and addicts. There, the two women stumbled upon a grisly sight: the body of a woman, just one of four that would be found dumped in that area.

The four victims, all female, were still clothed but barefoot; their socks and shoes had been removed and were nowhere to be found. They were all laid facedown in several inches of water, and all were facing east, their bodies seemingly posed in a symbolic gesture from the killer...
