This is Summer School. We are back in session. Hey, that's a first-time guest, Tony Catalina. That means a Texas A&M Day, gigam 247. Tony, what's going on, man? Nice to meet you. Hey, bud. Thanks for having me. I really appreciate it. Yeah, man. And exciting time to be covering Texas and M. Mike Helko has that thing absolutely rolling.

0:39.0

You know, 11 and 2 season last year, very strong. Yeah, man. And an exciting time to be covering Texas and him. Mike Helco has that thing absolutely rolling.

0:38.7

You know, 11 and 2 season last year, very strong.

0:42.8

I mean, you know, lost a hard fought game at the end there to the team in Miami that

0:48.1

then ended up playing for, you know, playing for the national championship,

0:50.9

giving Indiana a hell of a game.

0:52.1

What's the general vibe there in College Station now? You know, I think it's encouraged, right? I think everything they did and built last year going from 8 and 5 to 11 and 2, you know, it's something that, you know, they feel strongly about what they're, you know, putting the set, the stones in place here to kind of build a really sustainable program.

1:46.9

Obviously, the way it ended, you know, in Austin and then to Miami on their home field, obviously kind of got them licking their wounds a little bit here. But they believe that, you know, this age of the transfer portal, the way that they've kind of built the things out with Elko at the helm, it's more of a reload than a rebuild. They've been attacking the portal and find a ways to kind of get themselves back in that CFP for a second year in a row. All right, we'll start here on offense. I mean, you've been out there. Obviously, you talk to your sources. They do lose Colin Klein, the office coordinator to Kansas State. Holman Wiggins comes in, internal promotion, I believe, right, you know, to run the offense.

1:48.2

How different will the offense look schematically and why?

1:53.0

You know, I talked about this the other day.

1:55.2

I think there is a chance that there will be some noticeable differences, right?

1:58.2

Homer Wiggins with a wide receiver background, and you look at the strength of this team right now with Isaiah Horton, you got Mario Craver, Ashton Bethel Roman, a veteran quarterback and Marcel Reed entering his second year as the starter. Now you look and say, okay, they got a lot of change up front, offensive line, they got some movement at the running back spot. What is this team going to look like? They wear a lot of two tight-hand sets under call and klein they try to pound the rock and kind of settle up that way now i do believe that there is going to be an element of that but you can't dismiss the fact that holman is a wide receiver guy right somebody who has built up and and and kind of developed you know award-winning wide receivers but so will they throw it around the yard? I think there'll be some of that. I think it's a wait and see with a first-time play caller. But there is a chance that, you know, from Klein to Wiggins, it's going to be a noticeable difference there. Quarterback Marcel Reed's back, obviously, and in fans, I think I hate him. I don't think he's like a solid to good college quarterback, just for the record.

2:54.8

He did have a thing where, like, and granted, like, you're going to have worse games against the better teams,

2:59.3

but it felt like the kind of differential there was sort of outsized in a way.

3:04.7

I mean, they were, what, negative EPA per drive against Texas,

3:09.3

like almost 1.7 negative per drive against Miami.

3:13.5

A lot of that, you know, statistically what was on QB.
