Welcome ashore, Earl. How do you feel about this?

Roger on a desert island.

Well, I, it's a real pleasure for me to be here, and you kind of upset me when you told me how long it was when I was here before.

23 years ago I didn't think I was that old.

Well you're in pretty good Nick. Oh yeah I feel very good. You haven't put on a pound in 23 years.

Well I tried to watch that I have put on some pounds but I got rid of them now. You know they

shoot me how to back up from the table, see?

Yes.

I used to sit there until I'd swell up, you know, I don't do that anymore.

Now my place is getting away, but I love to eat and I realize that at my age now I can't carry it.

So I usually exercise quite a bit.

What sort of exercise?

Well, I carry my own influence with me, the stretching exercises and hand clips that I use for playing the piano and all that, you know what I mean?

And then, of course the regular leg stretching and

arms stretching what have you I wish it was television I could show you.

Right. Now you know you're almost a a legendary figure in the jazz world

and I'm looking forward to hearing again about some of your past and present

triumphs. Did you find it difficult to choose just eight discs to take with you?

Yes, I did, because over a period of years of all of thousands of musicians that I know, vocals,
