Summary

As we start the new year, one of the most dangerous assumptions is that things will be the same as last year. Our world is growing increasingly dangerous and uncertain. Rather than move through it casually or rely on self-effort, a sobriety is required to follow God in both the big and small things. To help, John and Allen reveal the difference in dreams and desires, what keeps us stuck, and an often-missed condition for God’s blessing and protection.
Show Notes: The book referenced is Walking with God by John Eldredge. The 3-part Wild at Heart podcast series with Blaine Eldredge is “What Is God Up To in Your Life?” (September 21, September 28, October 5, 2025).

the Feast of Epiphany, celebrating the arrival of the Magi to Mary Joseph and the newborn Jesus,

0:50.4

although depending on, you know, phrenology, might not exactly have been on January 6th,

0:56.2

but this is the day that we celebrate.

0:58.2

Yeah.

0:58.6

Tomorrow is.

1:00.0

And last week, we were reflecting in the podcast on using that time to think about your year,

1:08.8

check in on your condition.

1:15.1

Yeah. Notice the fingerprints of God on your life.

1:21.9

That was so helpful. Like to go through just the phone and look through photos and images of the last 12 months.

1:27.8

Yeah. Yeah. So if you haven't had a chance to do that and you have a little breathing room this week, even if you didn't listen to last week's podcast, it's a shorter one. I do want to recommend you do that

because we're now moving forward, everybody. We are excited for the new year. We have some

beautiful series ahead. We've got some great guests ahead for you this year. Some people you're

going to really enjoy hearing from. But before we go into this week's podcast, in the new year,
