0:00.0	All right. I am back with Coleman Hughes. Welcome to Walkins. Welcome. Welcome. Welcome back. Good to see you, Bridget. Good to see you too. Welcome to Austin. Yeah, it's good to be here. How long have you been here since Jan 1, basically? Oh, okay. Yeah. And you're here teaching at the University of Austin, correct? Yep. So can you explain to people who might not be too online what the University of Austin is?
0:23.2	So the University of Austin is that rarest of creatures a new, brand new university.
0:29.5	Wow.
0:30.2	And the basic idea is that higher education is broken.
0:35.8	For instance, I can speak from experience, having gone to Columbia
0:39.5	University, graduated in 2020, that there's certain topics that you just can't be honest about
0:46.5	most of the time in most classes because, you know, 99 to one professors skew liberal.
0:54.6	And there are certain taboos on the left that scholars basically can't come to certain
1:00.9	conclusions and can't teach certain truths, some of which are super well supported and
1:07.0	commonsensical gender differences between men and women and gender differences in psychology,
1:13.9	especially between men and women, how men and women think differently and feel differently and so forth,
1:19.5	anything to do with racism, anything to do with trans issues, and so forth.
1:24.1	So the idea of University of Austin is like, let's build a university that has the correct values around free speech and open thought from the very beginning so that it doesn't get hijacked by wokeness, essentially.
1:37.9	Okay.
1:38.1	And do you think every university pretty much has been hijacked by wokeness at this point?
1:48.0	I don't think every university has been hijacked. I think certainly the very elite schools,
1:53.9	the Ivy League schools have all been hijacked. And I don't mean the physics department or the
1:58.4	math department, obviously. I mean the sociology department,
2:02.2	the history department, the humanities in general. And to some extent, big state schools have,
2:09.3	if not been totally hijacked, then they've faced problems of a lesser degree. A few months ago,
2:16.8	the New York Times did a big essay on University of Michigan and how they
2:21.7	expanded and they basically increased their DEI department by a factor of like 10.
