| 0:00.0 | The morning apes, it is barely still morning here, but we are here. We are live, and we are happy to see you guys here on this beautiful Wednesday morning slash afternoon. It is currently 11, 53 a.m. Eastern time. We are, of course, coming at you live from the DailyP Global Headquarters. Obviously, I am David from WSO. Here to go over everything markets related to yesterday, what's moving markets here today. |
| 0:40.4 | It's looking like a pretty good day so far. Markets are relatively strong for a morning session here. We're definitely excited to get into things. We got a lot to go over. Very fun addition for you guys today. That's why I'm hanging out with my close personal friends, Dave Portnoy, CEO and founder Barstool Sports. We are I was talking to him on the phone earlier because we are close personal friends. He doesn't know that yet, but at some point, hopefully he will. And he did receive a pretty big award today. So I'm sure that he'll be giving an acceptance speech at some point. Obviously, in a tuxedo, we'll roll out the red carpet. We'll get into that in just a couple of minutes on exactly what the hell I'm talking about right now. But for now, let's go ahead and get into it. So Daily Peel, number 610 for, like I said, Wednesday, December 20th, 1154 a.m. Now I'm pretty sure they've said that stuff. But either way, in this issue with appeal, we're going to be talking about some housing data, of course. |
| 1:11.0 | We're probably going to be doing the same thing tomorrow. |
| 1:13.1 | So I hope you guys aren't sick of it just yet. Housing market is arguably, I mean, as if this is different any other time, but easily the most important factor driving the economy right now. So we'll get into all of that and the data that was released yesterday. We also got some big movements from names like Affirm and UBS and some movements in the wrong direction from pieces of shit like fuel sale and FedEx. |
| 1:32.3 | And we'll dive into exactly what was going on there, why they declined so much and probably make fun of them a little bit too along the way. |
| 1:38.6 | And then, of course, the most prestigious award show in all of finance, in of the united states probably in the history of |
| 1:44.9 | the world the platinum bananas are back we only had four issued last year and you guys definitely |
| 1:50.5 | let us know at the time that some more platinum bananas would be ideal so we got seven to give |
| 1:54.9 | out this year seven trading days left including today and so we'll be going over all in that stuff |
| 1:59.5 | with you guys by the way if anybody has an idea for a platinum banana that you would like to see, if it's better than some of the ideas that I have already, I'm happy to bump some of those if there's some stuff that you guys want to see. But for now, let's go ahead and dive into the movements of markets yesterday. Pretty good day overall, especially on the small calf side of things. we had nearly a 2% gain in the Russell 2000 while the rest of the indices were up fairly decent. The S&P's 59 bibs rise actually brought up the rear. So if that's the worst performance for a big index, it's a fairly good day. Obviously, some insider trading was occurring at the same time because WSO Alpha mirrored the S&P's performance. That probably shouldn't happen all that often, but clearly those apes did it yesterday. So I don't know what's going on, but somebody should probably call the SEC on those guys. I don't want to rat out my own team, but one of you definitely should because we don't need those room temps running the portfolio. It makes me nervous for my retirement. But if you want to get in on the format, definitely go ahead and check that out. |
| 2:52.4 | WSO Alpha Overview or slash Overview. I don't really know what the link is. I meant to link it here, and I do apologize for that. But you could probably find it with a quick Google search. Yields, however, we haven't talked about yields in a little while because they've been so damn boring lately. but it's always good to see bonds go back to their good old boring ways that shows some kind |
| 3:09.5 | of normalization in the market, most importantly. |
| 3:11.8 | And investor sentiment, especially when it comes to the smart money world of bonds, the 10 |
| 3:16.2 | years still well below 4%. |
| 3:17.6 | I don't know if it's well below, but it's right around the 3.91% line. |
| 3:20.9 | So decently below, while the two year is firmly below the 4.5%. It's having a tough time breaking back above. It seems like that's going to be a technical point of resistance for the two year yield. Definitely something to stay in tune with, especially as we as the rate narrative changes going forward into 2024. Let's go over some quick headlines that we didn't get into. Well, actually, we did get into this first one here, but we wanted to give you guys a chart to look at as well. We'll open that up in just a quick second. But also, the Red Sea, I mean, things going on over there. It is definitely not a pretty scene, much like my locker and really my presence in high school more generally. And still today, people are just trying to avoid it at all costs |
| 3:57.5 | it's dangerous territory over there it looks like some terrorist groups or some rebel groups over |
| 4:02.5 | in yemen as well as other areas within the middle east are causing a lot of commotion over there |
| 4:06.7 | you know obviously that's some political stuff we don't really get into it too much but it is affecting |
| 4:11.5 | the shipping company so it's going to be affecting some presents under the Christmas tree, or however you celebrate the holidays. But definitely be on the lookout for that, and don't get too mad at Santa if his stuff was delivered a little bit late. Now, of course, would you really be surprised to learn that BMW drivers are not only huge scumbags, but just about the biggest, the most likely to get a DUI on the road. |
| 4:31.7 | So they're not only huge scumbags, but they're the biggest drunks out there. Tesla had a pretty bad performance in this report overall, saying, I believe that they were the most accident-prone drivers out there, too. Can't say I'm too surprised when you're an Elon Musk fanboy, and that guy's tweeting every five minutes, you've got to go on your phone and check things out. so not too surprised to see that |
| 4:48.4 | Tesla drivers get in those accidents too much. |
