Summary
Great dog training podcast with a dog owner working on one of her dogs attacking her older dog. We don't focus so much on the exact "why". We focus on the ingredients that make it happen. Sometimes you will be more successfully isolating the situation that consistently causes the problem and removing that.

| 0:00.0 | Hello, no bad dog army happy freaking Wednesday. We've got a good podcast today with a lot of different layers of questions, which is always nice. So we have everything from my e-caller isn't working to going over video footage of a dog attacking their other dog over an ice cube and going through resource guarding and going through the triggers and the variables and the success and what that looks like as well as finding the right board and train and how many weeks you should do. |
| 0:28.2 | I mean a lot of different questions, a lot of different scenarios that I know it's going to benefit you guys before we get into the podcast as a reminder, we're doing a seminar next May with force Mickey, all the details are in the link below. So make sure you guys if you want to come hang out with us for the weekend that you get your tickets. And anyway, so we're going to get into the podcast. And as always I'm going to be answering your dog turning questions at the end. So make sure that you guys listen to the end. I'm going to pick three. And if you want me to answer you |
| 0:58.2 | or specific dog turning questions, all you guys have to do is head over to the iTunes review chart and leave your review in a question in that review. It's just the only way that you can actually get into a question with me. So yeah, listen to the end. And let's just get into the podcast. |
| 1:20.8 | Hello, hello, how are you? I'm good. How are you? Good. Thanks. |
| 1:28.2 | So a couple of things since the last time we talked, it's been about four weeks. |
| 1:35.2 | Been really trying to work with her on the e-caller. |
| 1:41.0 | She's doing great inside the house. |
| 1:44.7 | She even does great when we go outside. And I've got her on a long line. I've got about a 20 foot long line. |
| 1:52.3 | I can put her in a set. I can put her in a stay. I can walk to the end of that line. I can call her. She comes and she's 10 out of 10. |
| 2:04.3 | Perfect. |
| 2:05.3 | But as soon as I give her freedom, she's gone like a freight train. |
| 2:16.3 | And I'm trying to use the boost. I've got her set. When we're outside, I've got her set normally on between an eight and a nine inside the house. She can be a five and six and she's still super responsive. |
| 2:32.3 | But she seems to, because she's outside, there's obviously more distractions out there. I turned it up to an eight or nine. So her boost is at a 90. |
| 2:43.3 | And she acts like there ain't even anything going on. So I don't know if I've got it placed in the wrong spot. I don't end up at a loss. |
| 2:54.3 | Yeah, that's what it sounds like to me is the e-caller just isn't on working. Very common. I literally did this yesterday with somebody. She came in for the same thing. |
| 3:04.3 | She came in for the dog. Is it responding to the remote collar? And it was just not tight. I literally felt it. I'm like, yep, it's not working. She's like, what do you mean? I'm like, it has to be pushing against the dog skin in order for it to work. |
| 3:18.3 | And what ends up happening is especially what you were just saying is you may be hitting the button in response to. |
| 3:25.3 | So basically, you're not using the remote collar essentially is what ends up happening. If what we're talking about is to be held true. |
| 3:33.3 | So if you're on a long line and you're saying, come and you're saying sit in your same place and all that stuff. |
| 3:40.3 | Your dog already knows those behaviors outside of using the remote collar to reinforce it. So your dog's going to do that anyway, especially on a leash. |
| 3:47.3 | So this happens often where we say, oh, when we unclip the leash and the dog runs away, they don't, the e-caller doesn't work. |
| 3:53.3 | The e-caller hasn't been working, typically. And that's, that's a very easy, very common problem. |
