Welcome back to coffee and cases, sleuth hounds. I am so excited to be back with you this week,

and it is now official. I am going stir crazy. I am so ready to have some semblance of normalcy,

and it's really odd. I'm feeling both discouraged and encouraged at the same time this week, as I'm

sure many of you are. I'm feeling selfishly discouraged because I crave all of the small things

that I used to be able to do in a professional way. I'm wanting

the podcast to continue to grow in terms of its listenership. Socially and politically, though,

I'm feeling encouraged by the peaceful activism I'm seeing around me in my community every day.

The main reason Maggie and I decided to do this podcast in the first place

was to make sure to bring issues into the public consciousness.

And that's exactly what's happening around the world right now.

And the self-reflection that I'm seeing in so many people gives me hope.

I do want to let you know, though,

if you're new to coffee in cases, please know that our podcast has changed slightly as our world is still adjusting to a global pandemic. And while we're being asked to keep our distance

from others, to stay inside when possible and to not gather in large groups, we do ask that you bear with us as our podcast has changed a little as well.

The name alone was enough to strike fear in me when I was younger and it still

does to this day. I am going to be completely honest. Even as I was researching this episode,

I was sitting at home alone watching some videos about this week's topic and hearing strange

noises and I had to stop watching. I kept getting

creeped out thinking that I heard someone on the stairs, seeing things out of the corner of my eye.
