Summary

This week we're happy to sit down and hang out with our good friend, Nick Larson from the Birdshot Podcast. We always enjoy spending time with Nick and picking his brain about all things grousey but we also had the opportunity to learn more about the Upland Gun Company and all the cool stuff they're doing. If you're looking for a piece of art to carry around the woods and pass down through the family, then you should absolutely check them out and consider building your own custom gun. Yes, you read that correctly... build your own custom gun. We talk with Nick and learn about all sorts of stuff like english grips, what he looks for in a gun, Nick's advice for people getting fitted for a gun, and a ton more. Then we jump into a good discussion catching up on Nick's dogs and we learn how he coached his younger dog, Rose. She has had a couple seasons under her belt and is really becoming a fantastic grouse dog, so it's nice to learn more about ol' Rose. Bob and Nick talk through how people should walk up on a point and coach your dog to stay steady so you can have the best chance of pinning a grouse and creating a shot opportunity. If you've ever grouse hunted before, you know that it's easier said than done. Then we chat about hunting several guys and several dogs in the woods. A lot of people don't think about how tricky that can be but really, it's an art form. It's always good to hang out with Nick and talk dogs, guns and birds.
