Summary

For tonight's podcast, we had the pleasure of chatting with Jake Smith, the man behind The Pointing Dog Journal, The Retriever Journal and Just Labs Magazine. We begin the show learning about Jake's background, his books and how he got into the outdoor world. We chat a little about some of our favorite stories and how they've shaped our experiences in the outdoors. Is anyone else a big fan of Gordon MacQuarrie... I know I am. Then Jake talks a little about how other people can get into the writing world and we dig into some of the great moments we've shared hunting alongside dogs. We learn about Jake's dogs and find that he is also a Setter Man-- he has great taste in dogs and guns. It was fantastic meeting Jake, learning about his time in the outdoors and sharing stories with each other. It's funny how easy it is to connect with someone over a few stories about old guns and bird hunts. If you're interested in learning more about Jake, then check out his two books here and here. Yes, it helps me find spots with e-scouting, but basically it helps me stay unlost so that I can be here on podcast night. Get in the hunt on X.
