dictatorships has come crashing down. Syrian president Bashar al-Assad's regime fell over the weekend,

ending the reign of his family that's ruled over Syria since the 1970s. The president himself led the country and Russian state

media report he's being granted asylum in Moscow. It took less than two weeks for rebel fighters

to capture Syria's major cities, the latest one being the capital of Damascus over the weekend.

And with that, al-Assad gave orders for a peaceful transfer of power.

Celebrations broke out around the country.

Many Syrians are claiming victory since over the past 14 years, they've been living under

a civil war with a government that routinely attacks its own people.

Nearly half a million Syrians have been killed, and half of the country's

pre-war population of 23 million people have been displaced. So change is welcome. President Biden
