It's always good to have old friends on the show who've never done the show before.

And one of my favorites happens to be sitting across from today.

He's a man who

brings his his work at teams with life from well from milk to his work on big love to this

great big mini series he's now got on american television the show is when we rise my guess

of course is dust and lance blank lance thanks much here. Oh, thank you for having me on.

I'm so happy to finally be here. I'm so happy to finally have you here, for goodness sake. Your drive was

longer than the show's going to be. Yeah. But your pieces are, they're full with people, and you write these

big ensemble pieces, don't you? And sometimes we don't even know who the protagonist is in these pieces.

Well, you know, you can take the boy out of the Mormon church, but you can't take the Mormon

out of the boy. So, like, I grew up in, you know, in a world where you're encouraged to have a lot of folks.

And so, you know, and it does, it takes a lot of people to build a movement.

That is true.

I mean, there are leaders and figureheads, but it takes a lot of grassroots folks to move a movement forward.

And so when you start dealing with those sort of storylines, if you're not doing an ensemble,

then you might be fictionalizing a bit more than you ought to.

You think so? Because I just feel like for you, it's that all these voices matter.

And it's not just that one person has the point of view that's the guiding point of view.

I mean, the fact that there's so often friction between people right-minded, like-minded people.

That's true.

I mean, this series, when we rise, is about not just the LGBT movement, but people who
