Well, Kabbalis, today on Dungeon Masters Lutus, we're going to talk about a topic that I've been thinking about for quite a while now that I think is something that most game masters don't really ever think

about, but I really think it would be a valuable thing to add to your brain space when you're

thinking about how you want to run a game for a group of people. That concept is culture of play.

And the first thing I want to do is I want to define what culture of play means, so we

sort of have a common frame of reference.

A culture of play is a shared set of expectations and priorities that the RPG group

brings to the table about what a game is supposed to be

and what makes it fun. I first want to highlight the fact that I said what a game is supposed to be.

Everybody has their preconceived notions of what a role-playing game is and what it's going to be

like sitting at the table playing that game. So that is to you what the role playing game is supposed to be.

Now, I know there's a billion different ways a role playing game can be played and can be run.

But the particular culture of play that your group has is that set of experiences that they're looking for.
