Well, y'all, it feels like a great time for a story of grit and determination.

So I'm very excited to present today's story.

It's called Dune Song by Su Ye Davies Okun Gaborwa.

Su Ye is a Nigerian author of the forthcoming, the nameless Republic Fantasy Trilogy

and the God Punk, yes, God Punk, novel, David Mogo, God Hunter.

Su Ye's short fiction has appeared at Tor.com, light speed, nightmare, strange horizons,

fireside and several different anthologies.

Now, this story was first published online at Apex Magazine, a shout out to Apex,

which was on hiatus and is coming back thanks to crowdfunding.

It is also in the forthcoming anthology, the year's best science fiction volume 1,

the saga anthology of science fiction 2020.

Now, Dune Song is about a young girl, left, essentially orphaned in a strictly governed community

that is stranded in a post-disaster desert land.

The community is referenced to as a single unit.

Collectively, it's called Iseewa.

I found this story of this young girl's journey heartening and I hope you enjoy it.
