There are now two proposals for the next COVID-19 relief package, one from the

Democratic White House, one from Republicans in Congress, and it seems lawmakers on

both sides are now moving forward with their own plans without a lot of bipartisan support.

First, let's talk about the Republican plan.

It's worth about $618 billion.

It includes money for COVID-19 vaccines, testing, treatment, and medical equipment.

Also more direct payments, this time worth $1,000 for Americans who make less than $40,000 a year.

And it also includes billions of dollars for small businesses, schools, and

child care. But it's not clear if this plan stands a shot at passing since Democrats

who now hold the majority in Congress say it's not enough.
