This is the Daily Tech News Show year in review for 2025.

0:09.3

We're going to look back on what the biggest stories of the year were and try to help each other understand why they were.

0:16.4

We'll go through four stories or story types.

0:19.5

We thought were huge in 2025 and then finish what we think the absolute biggest story of

0:25.3

the year was.

0:25.6

I'm Tom Merritt.

0:27.0

I'm Jen Carter.

0:27.8

Let's look back on some of the biggest stories of 2025.

0:33.5

All right, Jen, where should we start?

0:35.8

I think we should start by having some fun and talking about wearables, because there were a lot more than I thought in the wearables category.

0:45.7

Like, I'm sure everyone remembers like, oh, like the cool Oakley glass. Okay, maybe I'm the one who is obsessed with the Oakley glasses.

0:50.9

1:29.5

being first doesn't always mean you will win the race. Oh, wow. The flashback. Yeah. Uh, so I,

1:36.1

I, I think we're really setting the groundwork. And of course, Google and Xreal kind of sneaked in

1:41.2

under the wire to make a big announcement about Projectora right at the end of the year, with all the details to come next year.

1:48.4

Also, I think fitting into the story is the return of Pebble. The core devices from Eric Mitchikovsky got the name Pebble back. They shipped the Pebble Duo. I'm wearing one right now.

2:02.4

It's quite nice if you like that E-Inc screen watch experience. And the Pebble Time is going to be a color

2:09.1

ink screen and that one's coming soon. So yeah, I think I think wearables and it's kind of setting the table is what I'd say.

2:17.7

Like wearables were setting the table for surpassing the smartphone as the darling device of the technology world.

2:27.6

Yeah.
