Hello and welcome to the DSR Daily. I'm David Rothkopf. I'm joined by Riley Fessler and Minna Stein. And we're here, you know,

a couple weeks into 2026. And strangely, it's already worse than 2025. How did that happen?

I don't know, but it's happening faster and faster. And a lot happened over the weekend.

So it was going to kick us off with some of that.

I'll kick us off because the Department of Justice

has escalated a long-running conflict

between the White House and the Federal Reserve

by serving Chair Jerome Powell with subpoenas

and threatening a criminal indictment

over his testimony regarding a $2.5 billion building renovation.

In a rare public rebuttal, Powell characterized the investigation as a pretext designed to undermine

the central bank's independence and pressure officials into following President Trump's preferred
