Summary
Happy 2018! It's the first High Low episode of the year. We've got some books, shows, podcasts and articles to recommend to you, a Queens impression from Pandora (that's the suburb in New York, not the royal OAP) and a reader question about what to do when you're a Hot Mess.
In this week's episode, we discuss the shocking - or is it so shocking? - new research from Kings College London, which reveals that 27% of pregnant women suffer from mental health problems. Is the 'pregnancy glow' myth to blame? Pandora - who at 8 months pregnant, believes the 'glow' to have passed her by entirely - speaks from experience; whilst Dolly muses upon the fetishisation of pregnant women in the media. Also in today's episode, we talk Dry January, Veganuary and other zeitgeisty lifestyle trends. Should we stop being so negative about 'new year, new me'?

| 0:00.0 | Welcome to episode 41 of The High Low. The weekly news and pop culture podcast brought |
| 0:22.2 | to you by journalist Dolly Alderton and Pandora Sykes and Happy 2018. Happy 2018! Did you have a good |
| 0:31.6 | new year? A lovely new year. Did you have a nice new year? I did have a lovely new year but I had to |
| 0:37.2 | get on a flight from Gatwick 7am the next morning which was pretty dicey and also leads me onto my |
| 0:46.7 | first book recommendation. I had to buy a book at Gatwick because my friend Sabrina and I, |
| 0:54.6 | I'm not just going to incriminate her, was so pissed when I packed that I packed a suitcase that |
| 1:00.2 | was completely useless with like four workout leggings. No training. I was just packing until New |
| 1:07.3 | New Year's Eve because I was shucking oysters and deviling eggs and baking potatoes that no one |
| 1:11.8 | fucking eats because no one eats at parties and they're getting drunk and I'm never ever going to |
| 1:16.1 | realise that. Is that really 80s? What are devil eggs? 80s. Yeah yeah they're pretty 80s. They're |
| 1:21.6 | having a bit of a comeback though because of Nigella, dear old Nigella did they? I think we're going to |
| 1:25.1 | say they're having a comeback because of you. Because of my Instagram posts, reports of egg sales have |
| 1:31.9 | gone through the roof. So what book did you buy me? I had to buy a book in the air box because I forgot |
| 1:36.0 | to pack any books. I bought the life changing magic of not giving a fuck. Oh by Sarah what's |
| 1:41.2 | her name? There's another one as well as a follow up to that. Is there? The life changing magic of |
| 1:45.5 | this movie. I don't think it's got fucking it. I've got it somewhere. Look I don't want to clutch |
| 1:50.8 | my pearls about this. It's a little bit too sweary for me. Oh my god Dolly. It's a little bit too much |
| 1:57.2 | swearing. I have to say have you read it? I think I've read bits of it. Yeah. Did really well. I like |
| 2:03.6 | a swear word but the problem is is that she's she's very funny the writer. So the book is called |
| 2:09.0 | How to Stop Spending Time. You don't have doing things you don't want to do with people you don't like. |
| 2:13.3 | Very useful for you. Very useful for me because as all my best friends including Pandora know, |
| 2:18.3 | I spend my life doing shit I don't want to do for people. I don't like that. So what's your take on |
