The Black Sea is not quite an open ocean. It's surrounded by lots of countries, including Russia to the east, Ukraine to the north, Turkey to the south.

But once you're there, it's treated like any other huge body of water, as long as you're not right up on somebody else's coastline, you're in international waters.

And so when a US drone went down earlier this week after colliding with Russian fighter jets, the stakes immediately went sky high.

Like if another country shot down an American aircraft over the Atlantic or Pacific oceans, that's a big deal.

Russia denied it had done anything to instigate this crash, but yesterday the US put out video of the incident itself to prove what happened.

This footage is silent, but crystal clear.
