Summary

With special thanks to the BRDC, the Driven to Succeed series returns to the Autosport Podcast, and on our first episode back, host Kevin Turner sits down with Monaco F2 2024 race winner and Williams Academy driver, Zak O'Sullivan. On the show, Zak talks about the bold strategy call in Monaco that led to his victory, what it's been like switching from Rodin (Formerly Carlin) to Italian junior giants Prema and the differences between the two teams operationally, and the ups and downs of what's been by Zak's own admission, an erratic year in F2 so far. There's also some chat about how Zak got into Motorsport, and who his heroes were growing up before taking to the track himself. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

All good. All good. Thanks for having me. No, no. Thanks for joining us. Well, let's, well, we'll start with

0:42.7

the most recent stuff. I mean, the F2, new F2 car to get used to on your step up, which I guess,

0:48.4

in a way, that leveled the field because the sort of second and third year drivers would have to learn it as well.

0:56.5

But obviously it's a big one for the team.

0:57.8

So it's been a bit up and down.

0:59.7

You look good to start with, then it was a bit shaky.

1:02.2

Then obviously you had the win in Monaco, which we'll get to in a minute.

1:05.3

So how do you feel the season's gone so far with ART?

1:11.1

Up and down, I think is the right way to describe it. Like you said with a new car, I think it created some parity between drivers because we all started from scratch in Bahrain really with three days of testing,

1:16.7

but in the gaps between teams have grown a lot. It's always the way with a new car. A ground

effect car, it's the first, I think, proper ground effect car in a long time in Junior Series.

1:29.6

So yeah, a bit to get used to from the team side and trying to work out how the car works. So it's a learning curve,
