First up, we're talking drink driving because alcohol

related deaths on the road are actually on the rise in this country, as more and more people

believe that they are less and less likely to be stopped and breathalized. It's another sign

that the police are overworked and underfunded, but it's also a symptom of a bigger problem, isn't it?

And that is that we allow a far larger degree of alcohol in the bloodstream than most other European countries,

something that has remained unchanged in 50 years.

And if you think about all the laws that have changed over the course of the last 50 years,

you might be permitted to wonder why this particular law has not been changed.

Surely the time has come to ban alcohol when driving altogether.
