Thursday edition of Pro Football Talk Live, Chris Sims, Mike Florio here with you for the next two hours.

These are extraordinary times, Chris, and the times continue to become more extraordinary.

I say all the time, we don't pick the stories, the stories pick us.

And that's my way of saying we have to deal with the hand that the circumstances

beyond football will deal us from time to time.

And this is an important time to focus on things other than football.

And I already embracing for people complaining loudly that we're going to devote so much time today to the story that is dominating the National Football League.

But, folks, this story is dominating the National Football League.

It's dominating our entire national discourse.

It is something that we have a responsibility to you and to ourselves to give the proper credence to.

It has gotten too big. And also, if you haven't checked,

there's nothing really going on in the NFL right now. They're not having offseason programs.

And more importantly, coaches throughout the league are scrapping their virtual meetings in order to

have conversations to spend time talking about shared experiences, talking about

solutions, talking about how to work through this trauma that has been inflicted on us

collectively as a nation.

And for the people who care about what's going on, for the people who want to see equality

in our society, it is traumatic, even if we are not among the minorities. It is

traumatic to look at what we are as a people, what we have become, and how we have so badly

lost our ways from the mottos that shape our nation. Liberty and justice for all, life, liberty

and the pursuit of happiness, equality in all ways. Equal justice under law is the motto that is at the opening and entry to the Supreme Court.

Equality is not a reality.
