Hello, everyone. This is Matt from the Explorers podcast. I'm going to interrupt our current

series to let you know about my new podcast that launched this past week. The show is History Dispatches.

It features me and my son doing a new episode every weekday. We take a look at people,

events, places, and anything that we find cool from throughout history. This is a short,

fun show, each episode running about 10 to 20 minutes. While you recognize a lot of the topics we

cover, we love to find obscure, weird, and offbeat things as well. So expect an eclectic lineup of topics.

So what I'm doing today is serving up one of those episodes, ad-free, which is related to the

Explorers podcast. This is the tale of a plate of brass found near San Francisco back in the 1930s.

It was possibly a lost relic confirming that English privateer, Sir Francis Drake,

had reached the San Francisco area back in the 1570s.

The big question about the plate, however,

was if it was the real thing.

It is a question we answer in this episode.

Also, this doesn't replace regular Explorer podcast episodes.

It's just a little bonus content.
