We are wrapping up on NextPats this week.

The first three days of Patriots training camp, of course.

Taking a close look at Drake May and specifically the young players on this roster right now, who's popping, who's dropping, whose stock is up, whose stock is down.

We're going to get very much into the wide receivers that are in their first or second or maybe even third years here in New England because that is a spot where there's a lot of uncertainty.

We're going to talk about the offensive line as well.

But let's start with the young quarterback. Where else would we start? Drake May.

So how do you look?

As expected is how I would describe it because I expected Drake May to be taken third overall. I believed

Drake May to be the best quarterback in this year's draft was very open about that all throughout

the draft process. Once I made that determination, once I had spoken to enough people, told me

about the character, we figured out how big he was, what kind of

armed talent he had, the aggressive mindset that he brings to the position. It sounds like a guy

that really any team should want. Sure, there are some question marks. He's 21 years old. They

feel like things somebody should be able to clean up. So I came into this training camp with maybe higher expectations than most for Drake May, and I would say those were met.

Now, expectations were met as well on the other side of the coin to the negative.

They just finished up their third day of practice.

I would say Drake May's worst day of camp to this point. Is that a catastrophe? No, because

you expect any young player, especially a quarterback, to be up and down. That progression is not

going to be linear from first day of camp to week one of the regular season or into year two.
