sorry, the Vailguard on the cusp of release, I thought I would offer a recap of the story

and lore of Dragon Age for newcomers or people who have forgotten the events of the first

three games, which were all over a decade ago.

Yikes.

There's a lot of ground to cover, so let's jump into it.

Before Game of Thrones was a global phenomenon, it was a highly regarded but not at all mainstream fantasy series.

The idea of the Knights Watch, a group of people chosen to protect the world

from a vast supernatural threat, was an inspiration for Dragon Age origins. Get ready to hear

the word taint more than is comfortable. Origin centers on the Grey Wardens, a Knights Watch

esk order that protects the world from

Dark Spawn. Dark Spawn hide in the depth of the world of Thadus. Sidebar, Thadus is both the name

of the world and short for the Dragon Age setting, which, L.O.L. In the depths, the Dark Spawn seek out an arch demon, a massive dragon

tainted with Dark Spawn corruption. When an arch demon is located, they attack the surface

and bring about what's known as a blight. Prior to the events of the game, there had been four blights.

The wardens had thwarted every archdeemon that had threatened the world,

but it had been such a long period of time since the previous blight

that the people of Thetus had begun to forgot why the wardens matter.

In the country of Feraldon, an army of darkspawn gathers, and rumors of a blight run wild.

A warden named Duncan recruits the player character. During an intense ritual, the player

takes on some sort of taint from the dark spawn, enabling them to sense them.

Unbeknown to the player, the taint also empowers wardens to be able to fully kill an arch demon,
