Now, on with the show. Today, I'm joined by Eleanor Parker. She is lecturer in medieval English literature at Brazos College, Oxford. Dr. Parker writes an acclaimed blog in her guise as

a clerk of Oxford. In 2015, her blog won the Longman

History Today Award for Digital History, and she currently writes for History Today magazine. She is also

the author of a book coming out this September called Dragon Lords, the History and Legends

of Viking England.

So before we get into your book, my first question to you is, you know, of all places,

why did the Vikings come to England and why did they decide to settle there?

Obviously, they were natives of the Scandinavian countries, but why England? And when they did come to England, what sort of legacy did they leave behind and how did the Vikings
