Now we are returning to Dragnet.

It's been a while, at least since we played a new Dragnet episode,

although we have played a few repeats during vacation weeks.

And the last regular episode of the series is still available as one of our last 1,000 episodes.

But I've definitely missed the series, which really launched me into the whole old-time radio podcasting back in March of 2007.

The story of Dragnet began with actor Jack Webb, who'd made a splash in San Francisco radio

as the tough-talking hard-boiled, private eye, at Novak for hire.

He left San Francisco and headed for Hollywood in 1947, and worked to break into the Los Angeles radio scene

as well as into motion pictures.

On radio, he got not only some good character parts on programs such as Escape,
