Now we could talk about how incredibly queer the horror genre is in general and the history of that,

but for time sake we're going to focus on modern times and horror movies in particular.

You know, it really surprises me how many non-queer people miss these super obvious

queer subtext and horror movies.

It's totally not new.

It goes way back to the 30s with the Hayes Code and for people who are

unfamiliar with that the Hayes Code was essentially like this moral rule book that

filmmakers had to abide by like from the 30s to the all the way up to like the late

guided production companies away from creating air quotes profane

content which of course depictions of homosexuals were included in that yeah and that's what drove some filmmakers to figure out ways to depict the queer experience through monster movies.

And you can see that in classics like Frankenstein, Dracula, cat people, and the list really goes on.
