Summary

Through watching short glimpses of practice and talking to coaches and players all spring, the thoughts around many Ohio State football players have changed. With that info gathered, and the spring game coming Saturday, it's time to rank the best current Buckeyes. On this big Wednesday Buckeye Talk, Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means do that by drafting players based on their production, potential, health and how they've looked and been talked about this spring. It's a great way to get an overall view of the roster, and though you are sure to disagree with some of the picks, a fun way to talk about the Buckeyes. Hey, hey, where you been, but got talk is about to begin, hey, hey, hey, come on in.

0:26.1

Welcome back to the big Wednesday book. I talk from Cleveland.com, Doug Lamarice,

0:30.4

Stephen Means, Nathan Baird, and I am, we just figured out exactly the parameters for this.

0:34.5

It's a draft, and I am pumped because we're going to start doing this a couple times a year,

0:39.2

and we're modeling what we're doing off sort of how recruits are ranked. And we are going to rank

0:45.7

the 51 best football players on Ohio State's team right now. And it's just like recruiting rankings,

0:52.3

get updated a couple times a year, you know, there's been a camp. There's bring spring football.

0:57.0

We've gathered information. We've gotten tiny little glimpses, but we've heard people talk,

1:01.5

right? So that has affected how we view who the best players are that our list right now isn't

1:07.4

the list we would have had in February. And I think when maybe we'll start doing this a couple

1:11.5

times a year, where if we do it after spring practice, we could do it after camp in August,

1:15.7

right before the season starts, maybe do it at the by week in the middle of the season,

1:19.4

then do like a post season one in January or something or in February before spring football

1:24.8

starts. We do it three or four times a year, and it's our view of the best players. So we're

1:29.2

going to draft it to make it fun, but it really is just a ranking. Positions don't matter, age

1:36.0

doesn't matter. It's somewhat predictive. There might there going to be some freshmen on this list

1:40.5

who have never played college football, but also production does matter. Like if you've done it,

1:44.9

you know, like we're saying like Jack Sawyer can't be number one on this list, even if you think

1:50.3

Jack Sawyer's Lauren's Taylor, right? Because there are too many good established players,

1:54.1

but he can be somewhere on this list, right? So there's no right answer. It's production,

2:00.5

it's talent. It's a little bit futuristic, but it's more what's happening right now because

2:05.5

then when we do this list again in August, guys will jump up, guys will fall down and just like

...
