Summary

Parenthood is a massive journey in humility. When kids are really little we can make them do (some) things but when they become teenagers we get into a control dynamic and teens will always win the battle. So much of their behaviour feels disrespectful and rude. What are we trying to understand from them? How can WE keep calm during a conflict? If you are a member of The Common Parent and haven't listened to this interview, go check it out over at  https://thecommonparent.com. If you aren't a member, take a listen to this Monday snippet now. Dr. Tina Payne Bryson helps us find ways to cultivate a relationship with our teens and provides valuable insight for those who feel that their teens not only look different but sound different too. To gain more insights from Dr. Bryson check her out @tinapaynebryson and on her website at http://www.tinabryson.com/.

daughter's band recital or concert or whatever we call it. And the podcast we're about to listen to

is with Dr. Tina Brason about cultivating connection with your team. Now why this podcast feels so

1:15.2

hilarious right now is because number one, I am busting, busting my earth to get down to her concert.

1:21.7

And she was like, I don't want you there. I'd rather you didn't come. Kind of mad at me about coming.

1:26.0

And I, it's like sometimes I'm like, do you mean it? Do you not mean it? Because if I don't go,

1:32.8

I know you're going to be like, I can't believe she didn't come even though there's more

parents there, but you're telling me you don't want to come. I think that what this whole point is

is like when they're becoming teenagers, you don't know when to push and you don't know when to pull.

understanding of what matters to them. So it's like as parents with connection, it's like
