Meet Dr. Stesha Selsky, DNP, RN - BC Nurse Informaticist. There are so many cutting-edge things happening in the healthcare field and this is a particularly exciting one! Technology, innovation, and streamlining our ever-changing healthcare systems. We also get into her battle with a rare autonomic disorder and her insane health journey with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and the importance of advocating for your own health. What is a Nurse Informaticist?? Nurse Informaticists blend a nurse’s focus on patient care with the insights of health informatics. Dr. Stesha has been working in this role since 2014! A little about her... she graduated from the University of Michigan and worked as a volleyball coach prior to entering the field of nursing. Stesha received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Duke University and worked as a cardiac nurse in a premier LA University teaching hospital. During this time she discovered how technology could positively influence patient care and has loved the field of nursing informatics ever since. She was awarded the California Rising Star from Nurse.com in 2015 and graduated with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Colorado, Denver. Now she is focused on mentoring nurses with an interest in informatics and publishing articles about how technology can influence patient care.
