Summary

Dr. Shloimie Zimmerman, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder and director of a multi-disciplinary group mental health practice. He is a renowned speaker and consultant in the areas of child development, education, abuse prevention, and trauma. He is the author of the groundbreaking book From Boys to Men.

Dr. Zimmerman is also the chair of Amudim’s advisory board and Magen New York’s clinical advisory board. He co-founded Congregation Sons of Israel, where he served as president and gabbai for twelve years. 0:00.0	The problem is that society is trying to do away with all shame on this topic.
0:04.6	No, you should strut sexuality, you should put it out there, everything goes,
0:08.8	and it is actually causing the destruction.
0:11.6	To the point of criminality in a way, absolutely.
0:15.4	Not only criminality in the part of what's going on in the street,
0:18.6	but now we're co-opting the mental health and medical fields to engage in surgeries,
0:24.4	for minors, I mean things that are, to me, reprehensible.
0:27.8	And, you know, in the name of some giant compassionate and just free and clear do whatever you want,
0:33.9	and it's actually just going to destroy fabric of society.
0:37.5	And I think, you know, we're trying to restore that healthy sense,
0:41.7	who you really are, is something way beyond.
0:44.0	And you have that sense.
0:45.0	You have that sense when you lose your temper and you say, that wasn't me.
0:47.4	Well, who was it?

0:49.3	You have a sense, I was out of touch with the authentic me.
0:52.5	And the same thing, when we feel like we just lost it,
0:55.1	we just went after that animalistic piece, you feel, ah,
0:58.6	that's a healthy sense of shame that I was less than,
1:01.4	but the idea that, no, I really, I'm not a Yashivabacher, I'm a pervert,
1:05.2	I'm not a Basisero, I'm some Prutsu, that's toxic shame.
1:09.2	Anytime you're identifying yourself as bad, as negative,
