In today's show, we're going to unpack some highlights from a recent podcast from Dr. Peter Artia and Tom Dayspring.

0:05.3

This is a really good two-hour and 20-minute-long episode that I would highly encourage you check out.

0:09.4

But if you don't have time to download and watch or listen to the whole thing, we're going to highlight some of the key or salient takeaways from that episode.

0:17.2

Because as you likely know, the leading cause of premature mortality in both men and women

0:21.7

is cardiovascular disease. So every single person should care about reducing their risk for

0:25.6

cardiovascular disease. But as you likely know, Dr. Atia is very focused on APOB and or LDL cholesterol

0:32.7

lowering and reduction. And we'll talk about why that thesis, his thesis, stands that you should have a pretty

0:40.4

low LDL. I think, you know, from the patients that he's worked with and my general impression from

0:45.2

his videos and podcasts is lowers the better from his perspective in his patient clinical practice.

0:51.6

But he admits to and talks a lot about how cholesterol is necessary,

0:56.9

but it's insufficient to fully explain atherosclerosis or increased risk for developing

1:02.3

placking that can lead to either a cardiovascular event or a cerebrovascular event like a stroke.

1:08.4

And that is that the endothelial tissue that can trap L.D.L. cholesterol

1:12.8

becomes damaged when people have high blood pressure, insulin resistance, increase blood

1:18.0

viscosity, they don't exercise. And so it's, you know, cholesterol is not necessarily the sole

1:23.9

reason driving cardiovascular disease. It's necessary, but it's insufficient. I think that's a

1:28.5

really good a pracea or take home from the first hour of this discussion. Now, what really surprised

1:35.0

me about an hour and 20 minutes into this conversation, Tom Dayspring really talked about how

1:39.8

triglycerides and insulin resistance are a huge problem. And he mentioned that if he just had two

1:45.3

biomarkers to measure. Now, remember, this gentleman, I believe he's a lipidologist. He's been studying

1:52.5

lipids for most of his career, as I understand. He talked a lot about triglysteroids. Now, as you

1:58.8

know, we have a video that I published well over a year ago.
