Hi, I'm Ben Mathis and welcome to Kickass News.

Folks, my guest today is someone I've been wanting to have on the show ever since I started this podcast over two and a half years ago.

Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson is an acclaimed astrophysicist, author and a highly popular science communicator who has over seven and a half million followers on Twitter.

Since 1996, he's been the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, where he founded the Department of Astrophysics in 1997.

In 2001, Tyson was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve on a 12-member commission that studied the future of the U.S. aerospace industry.

And again, in 2004, Tyson was appointed by President Bush to serve on a commission on the implementation of the United States Space Exploration Policy dubbed the Moon Mars and Beyond Commission.

From 2006 to 2011, he hosted the television show Nova Science Now on PBS.

Since 2009, he's hosted the popular weekly podcast Star Talk and a spin-off series for television began airing on National Geographic in 2015.

In 2014, he began hosting the television show Cosmos, a successor to Carl Sagan's 1980 Cosmos series, which is one four Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award and two Critics Choice Awards.
