Hello and welcome to the Safy Ridge on Sunday podcast, with talk of rebellion coming from all

sides of the Conservative Party. I was joined by International Trade Secretary Dr. Liam Fox

to discuss the Prime Minister's future and the government's plans for

immigration. And in Lib Dem Conference Week, I was joined by the party's deputy leader Joe Swenson.

When David Davis and Boris Johnson dramatically resigned from the government in July,

declaring that they could no longer support the Prime Minister's Brexit plan,

all the attention was understandably on the two Brexiteers who were flouncing out of the room.

What may have escaped the notice of some, however, was that some surprising figures opted to lie low and stay inside the tent,

none perhaps more surprising, Fenley and Fox.

When Theresa May became Prime Minister after the referendum in 2016,

Fox was seen as the biggest liability among the three Brexiteers,

Johnson and Davis being the other two.

A staunch lever from the libertarian right of the party,

he was seen as the most

hard line, the most likely to walk at the first sniff of compromise with Brussels, but instead

he's proved to be the most stable, the most loyal, and perhaps the most pragmatic. So pragmatic,
