Currently he is a Professor of Medicine, Medical Ethics and Health Policy, and Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania and Co-Director of the Penn Memory Center, where he cares for patients. He is a member of the Board of Directors of The Greenwall Foundation. He lives in Philadelphia.

I'm a physician. I trained in internal medicine and then after my internal

medicine residency I pursued additional training in geriatric medicine and then I started faculty

at the University of Pennsylvania about 1997 and pretty rapidly in that work I began to focus on the diagnosis and treatment and care

of older adults with cognitive problems. I started working. It was then called the memory disorders

clinic, but we changed the name to the Penn Memory Center. And I've been working there ever since

every Friday I see patients and the rest of

my time I divide up amongst a variety of research projects and writing projects one of which

resulted in this book for example and it's a tremendous book and I highly recommend even if you're a

layperson or a medical professional this book has something really for everyone it's it's kind of an anthology or a history of the disease, but also where it's headed

and kind of up to the 2020s, so modern day.
