Gerald Horn, who's a historian, author, professor, academic, Renaissance man, and author of many

path-breaking books. The Counter-Revolution of 1776,

I think I got the title right, being one of the most standout contributions of Dr. Horn.

He's also the author of the Counter-Revolution of 1836, Texas slavery and Jim Crow and the roots of U.S.

fascism, which I think is exceptionally relevant for our discussion today.

And I think this book will help set the backdrop for what we're going to start our discussion with.

We're going to talk about the wave of mass shootings in political and historical context.

The U.S. as a truly exceptional place and not in necessarily. A good way, we're also going to talk about the new revelations

of how Haiti's debt to its initial imperial overlord France impacted its ability to develop or

forced it into a state of persistent de-development, underdevelopment.

And we're going to talk about the NATO proxy war in Ukraine.

you here. Thank you for inviting me. Great. So I guess we all witnessed the hideous shooting in Uvalde, Texas. You're in Houston, correct?

That is correct. I'm afraid to say. So you're a real firsthand expert on life in Texas. I mean,

I think Uvalde is closer to the San Antonio area, am I right?

That's true. It's hundreds of miles from Houston.

Yeah, so it's very different than Houston. There was also a shooting, an ideologically

motivated shooting in Buffalo by a white supremacist, someone who left a manifesto, who was inspired
