The former top infectious disease official faced heavy criticism for his handling of the pandemic response, with lawmakers’ questions focusing on the lack of scientific reasoning behind six feet of social distancing and if the suppression of the lab leak theory came from a federal level. Driving into the country's largest city just got more expensive. Starting at the end of the month, those entering New York City below 60th Street will now be subjected to congestion pricing and pay at least $15 to drive in lower Manhattan during peak hours. The goal is to relieve congestion in the city daily by reducing traffic by 120,000 vehicles. Those with no other option than to drive into NYC are furious with the state's decision, with eight lawsuits pending in New York and New Jersey.
