We are a year into the pandemic and we have some good news.

There are a lot of vaccines being distributed.

The CDC says nearly 20% of Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine since

mid-December.

That's 93 million doses administered, about 2.1 million shots a day.

The bad news is that the rollout to register for vaccine has been clunky and in some cases

we have left over vaccines that are expiring before anyone can actually use them.

Someone is trying to solve this with a website, Russell Brandham, Policy Editor of the

First of all, let's talk about the problem itself.

Why are our vaccines being wasted?

It seems mind-boggling to think after a year we're not getting vaccines to people who

need them once we have them.

Yeah.

Interesting.

Some of it is just potentially unavoidable.

The truck breaks down.

We've had these horrible natural disasters a lot of times that means losing power.

Once it comes back up to temperature, basically it's lost.

If it doesn't go into someone's body, the vaccine expires.
