What does it mean to love the place that you're from?

If you listen to the Daily Mail, it would mean pledging allegiance to the flag, the king,

the army and, I don't know, Antendex, Saturday night, take away every day.

But maybe there is the possibility of something different.

A progressive patriotism in fact, which defines itself by inclusivity, multiculturalism and

class struggle. To discuss whether or not patriotism is ever something that can be reclaimed

for the left or whether that's just a big old fantasy, I'm joined by Billy Bragg, musician

and author and all around legend. I want to share my most Tory opinion with you.

My most Tory opinion is that I would ban trickle-treat. I would ban it.

Like the costumes I think are great. I think they're phenomenal.

But like one is I have like a trickle-treat childhood trauma, which was when my sister was in

hospital during Halloween when we were kids. My mom was a single parent, super stressful.

We came home from the hospital because before there was space to stay in the hospital with

your sick child. And my mom had to choose between me and my sick sister, it was really horrible,

and then we came back in our house with my leg. So that was my villain origin story.

And then this year, this kid knocks on my door because I put out like a big thing of chocolate

so that's upstairs working. And then he knocks on the door and I just like come down,

finished like live streaming with Navara. And he's like, oh, you've run out of chocolate.

And I was like, what do you want me to do about it? And he was like, you've got any money?

And his parents are like, oh, he's cute. And I was like, look at me, little shit.

My tax money pays for your education. I don't care if you can read all right.

But I'm paying tax with a glad heart for you to pay.
