Three months ago, an MP and survivor of domestic abuse was admitted to hospital following

what she called a sustained campaign of misogynistic abuse and harassment from within her party.

Weeks earlier, the party leadership had been warned that this would happen, and they

did nothing.

Habsana Begum always knew she had her work cut out for her.

When she was first elected to Parliament in 2019, aged just 29, she was Britain's first

to Jarbee MP on one of the few remaining socialists in the Labour Party.

What Begum could never have predicted, however, was that from a trumped up housing forward

trial to a corrupt trigger process, the Labour Party would enable her ex-husband to continue

his abuse, pushing her to the brink.

But if anyone thought that Habsana Begum would go quietly, they were mistaken.

On the eve of Labour Party conference, the MP for Poplar and Limehouse returns to work,

and this time she isn't staying silent.

Thank you for having me.

So in June, you put out a statement saying that you've been signed off sick following

what you described as a sustained campaign of misogynistic abuse and harassment.

Tell us about the events leading up to that, which date all the way back to your former

marriage.

Yeah, I mean, I got married in 2013 under very difficult circumstances.

My father just passed away five months before that, and things were very difficult for

me.
