BBC Scotland's podcast that gives you an inside look into the biggest stories coming out of Holyrood and Westminster.

So as we approach the big day on November 12th you might have heard

references to the youth vote or young voters during the campaigning but really

how different are young voters and is it patronising to keep lumping youth together

as if they're a solid voting block? Well that's what we're going to chat about

today and with me is...

I'm Phil Sim. I kind of feel like the how do young people gif like made flesh right now, but I'm a

reporter at the Scottish Parliament. I'm Joey Dursso. I am a reporter for BBC trending, so looking at

social media in the election campaign, and I'm sitting in a studio in broadcasting house in

central London. I'm Marie LaCont. I'm a freelance political journalist and author of Haven't You

Heard, which is a book about political gossip and I'm in London as well. Yeah. And Matt Cox is in the

box producing this week with a big thumbs up. So we're looking at the youth vote. Now we all talk

a lot about the youth vote. We hear political parties talking about them. But what actually is it, Phil?

It's kind of hard to tell, isn't it? Is it one of these things where it's like, it is whatever you want it to be? I mean, I guess in Scotland, actually, weirdly can mean something different because we can have 16 and 17-year-olds voting in Scottish Parliament and local government elections.

But I guess for most, like, this UK general election campaign we're having right now, it's probably like your 18 to 24, 18 to 35 kind of bracket.
