Today we welcome Greg Matsen, a believing member of the LDS Church, to talk about what the Church means to him and how he tries to live out a healthy, thoughtful approach to Mormonism.
Host of the podcast Cwic Show, Greg joins us today to share his Mormon story–from growing up in a “practical” orthodox family in Southern California and serving a mission in Mexico City, to navigating marriage, parenting, and personal belief in the LDS church today.
We dive into his experiences with doubt, why he believes questioning can actually strengthen faith, and what led him to start the Cwic Show on YouTube. Along the way, Greg shares his thoughts on church misconceptions, LGBTQ issues, politics, and tough questions like the role of women in the Church–all from the perspective of an active and believing member of the LDS church.
We hope this episode will be beneficial to anyone trying to stay faithful to the Mormon Church, even after doubts arise.

| 0:00.0 | Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Mormon stories podcast. I'm your host, |
| 0:03.6 | John DeLinn. It's December 5th, 2025. And today I'm over the moon ecstatic to have on the show |
| 0:11.1 | a fellow Mormon-themed YouTuber by the name of Greg Mattson of The Quick Show or Quick Media. |
| 0:20.2 | Correct. Hey, Greg. |
| 0:21.6 | John, how are you? |
| 0:22.6 | Good. Thanks for coming on Mormon Stories. |
| 0:24.2 | Yeah, happy to be here. |
| 0:25.8 | And I'll just say for a long time, well, some of the consistent criticism we get on Mormon |
| 0:32.1 | stories, especially from the bleeding side, is the number one, Mormon stories isn't balanced |
| 0:37.1 | enough that we isn't balanced enough |
| 0:37.5 | that we don't have enough, you know, believers on to counterbalance the critics. |
| 0:43.1 | And then also there's been the criticism that people who leave the church or ex-Mormans |
| 0:49.8 | tend to be more politically liberal, whereas people that stay sometimes might be more politically |
| 0:57.2 | or socially conservative, and that Mormon stories has not been balanced in terms of representing |
| 1:04.9 | people along the faith spectrum or the political spectrum. And I feel like we've always tried to have believers on the show. |
| 1:12.5 | And I think throughout our 20 years, you'll find lots of believers on the show and apologists. |
| 1:17.4 | But I always love to have people on the show that can represent healthy belief, |
| 1:23.0 | that can provide a framework for healthy belief for those who want to believe because as far as |
| 1:29.3 | I'm concerned, Mormon Stories podcast is not anti-belief. It's not anti-LDS Church. It's not anti-Christianity. |
| 1:38.1 | It's not anti-theism. It's more just trying to hear people and their stories and also try and just engage in |
| 1:46.3 | dialogue. |
| 1:47.1 | So for all those reasons, in addition, lately, we've really been trying to figure out what |
